Enhancing Human Security and Infrastructure in the Kyrgyz Republic
We were honoured by the presence of the Minister of Defence of the Kyrgyz Republic, Representatives of the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. State Department Bureau of Political Military Affairs, the Ambassador of the U.S. to the Kyrgyz Republic, and the ITF management and the team. This occasion evidenced the completion of the transfer of twelve renewed warehouses, the construction of two new facilities, and the establishment of comprehensive perimeter fencing, surveillance systems, and lighting in Balykchy, Kyrgyz Republic.
This achievement stands as a testament to the remarkable collaboration between the Kyrgyz Republic and ITF Enhancing Human Security, a partnership that commenced in 2014 and has since been generously supported by the United States.
Over the years, these joint efforts have brought significant progress to the region, bolstering physical security and munitions management. Through our collective endeavors, we have not only transformed infrastructure but also enhanced the safety of the communities that live in close proximity to the ammunition warehouses.
Capacity building efforts have been in progress since 2014, with a focus on enhancing expertise and capabilities of the local authorities. Notably, personnel from the Ministry of Defence have been consistently engaged in specialized training initiatives in ammunition disposal and storage, revising practices and standard procedures.
The steadfast financial support from the United States played a pivotal role in advancing these projects. Their unwavering commitment to human security has been the cornerstone of our success.
In addition to Balykchy, we have also visited other projects in Osh, southern part of the Kyrgyz Republic where remarkable results have been achieved and continue to unfold, ensuring environmentally safe ammunition disposal. The positive impact of these projects resonates far beyond the borders of the Kyrgyz Republic, saving lives and contributing to regional stability.
Today, we are united in our vision of a safer and more secure future. The dedication of our teams, both at ITF and within the Ministry of Defence of the Kyrgyz Republic, has been exemplary. Together, we have achieved outstanding results, and together, we will continue to drive progress and innovation in the realm of human security.
